U12s at the ACES Nationals
After a very successful season for our U12s they were invited to Nottingham to compete in this years National Finals.
The tournament was for league or cup winners and a chance to compete with other, equally successful teams, throughout the country.
So on June 27th seventeen TOP girls teams from all over the UK lined up to see who would be crowned this years “champion of campions”
A lively opening ceremony saw captains take to the stage to draw teams to form 3 mini leagues before going onto knockout football.
Coventry went into league B with 5 others (Reading, Glamorgan, Birmingham, Oxford and Bristol) - they went onto play magnificently, topping the group with an unbeaten set of results.
Onto the quarter finals and were up against Nottingham. Again Coventry Girls played some excellent football and came away 1 -nil victors.
Coventry was now in the semi-finals…..
A tight game was to follow against Preston, they couldn’t be separated and it finished 0 -0
Penalties…
Alas it wasn’t to be our day and our girls bowed out – to the eventual winners. But nevertheless with heads, very much, held high.
Reflecting on a great season for our U12s - they can now confidently claim to be one of the top teams for their age in the UK !!
Roll on next season

Saturday 13th May saw our under 12s win the CWGFL Open Cup by beating Solihull Sporting at Evesham FC.
At half time, the girls were down 2-0, but the girls digged in and fight back magnificently with a full time score of 2-2. On to nail biting extra time but with no more goals it moved onto penalties.
